Director, Quality Assurance & Safety Elin Group Ltd. September 2020 - March 2021
Responsibilities
Led a team of three (3) auditors and served as the contact person between my organisation and the CAA.
I ensured that all approved manuals were up to date with regards to the regulations in force, and directives issued by the CAA.
I ensured the streamlining of all operations in line with organizational processes, safety and health guidelines, and regulatory requirements for enhanced efficiency and compliance monitoring.
Served as the Safety evangelist for the organisation, encouraging all members of staff to buy into the Safety Management System (SMS) implemented by the company.
I managed the hazard identification and risk assessment process.
I kept the Accountable Manager (CEO) fully aware of the safety and compliance posture of the organisation via monthly management meetings, and email summaries every other week.
Championing process improvement activities with the aim of improving the overall Quality and Safety posture of the organisation.
Developed and provided different levels of Safety Management Systems training to several personnel depending on their level of interaction with the SMS.
I ensured that all service providers were audited, and all findings/observations made during such audits were properly closed accordingly.
I liaised with the CAA, clients, service providers and external bodies on Safety and Quality matters as required.
I was responsible for ensuring that all employees training was complete and current as required by the Organisation Training manual.
Achievements
Designed and implemented an online technical library, to ensure access to controlled versions of technical document even when out of office.
Obtained the Air Operator Certificate within the first month of joining the company.
Saved 35% of budgeted amount for training while still getting more people trained.
Designed the Personnel Training Status (PTS) portal, which monitored and notified the appropriate staff the validity status of all personnel training.
Senior Quality Assurance and Safety Inspector Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority March 2011 – August 2020
Responsibilities
Participated as a team-member and in some cases team-lead in the certification process for different Airlines, Maintenance Organisations and Training Organisations.
Carried out surveillance activities on certificated organisations to ensure that they were still operating to the levels they were certified to.
Identified alleged violations by company / individuals of NCAA regulation or approved company SOPs during surveillance activities; occasionally acted as member of investigative panel / committee.
As the head of the training unit, I managed a team of seven (7) inspectors to deliver impeccable support to the directorate in maintaining the training database, assuring unprecedented levels of execution and progression, and fulfilling training requirements in accordance with the requirements of the Inspector Training System (ITS).
Was responsible ramp inspection and surveillance activities, which included creating a monthly schedule and keeping all related records.
As a QA inspector,i was responsible for designing procedures to ensure that the directorate was always in compliance with all ICAO requirements, and to demonstarte this during audits whisch led to creations of solutions like the Ramp surveillance Database.
I was the Principal Inspector for several airlines. In this position, I served as the contact person whenever they needed any guidance or clarity as regards meeting any requirement or any task at hand.
Improved client satisfaction level by always being available when they needed me, and this sometimes was after hours due to nature of the industry.
Maintaining a constant dialogue with operators and officials in the industry on professional matters to keep up to date with latest developments.
I prepared detailed reports on certifications, investigations, inspections, and all other activities I participated in.
I reviewed, evaluated, and recommended for approval/acceptance various technical documentations (Quality Manuals, Maintenance Control Manuals (MCM), Maintenance Program (MP) and Minimum Equipment List (MEL)) of certificate holders to verify compliance with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations.
Held full accountability for making recommendations for issue/renewal of air operator or maintenance organisation after review of their manuals, facilities, and other associated documents.
Achievements
As the head of the training unit, we able to migrate all training documents as well as training/qualification records from paper to electronic, and also made this the default standard.
As head of my directorates training unit, I achieved 100% completion of my training plan and never exceeded 85% of my allotted budget for the 3 years I held that post.
As head of my directorates training unit, there was never a finding or observation against my unit during external audits.
I designed, populated, and maintained a database for the training unit, both for individual inspectors’ profile, and the entire directorate.
I was part of the team that designed the Inspector Activity Tracking System (ISATS) and the Inspector Training Record and Qualification System (ITRAQS).
Team Member for both the ICAO USOAP AUDIT and CAP Implementation Monitoring.
Team Member for two successful FAA IASA CAT 1 Audit.
During my time in charge of the ramp inspection I was able to provide a Ramp surveillance Database (where none existed before), where management could log in remotely and get whatever insight they wanted.
Received letter of commendation from top management in recognition of excellent performance.
